inside her 1870's farmhouse, a permanent easel constructed from the lumber of a former original out-building stands guard. with a background in landscape design, Dawn approaches a canvas and creates with a mindfulness of color, texture and form. she uses pallet knives, thick paintbrushes, and gestural marks to apply generous amounts of acrylic paint, as well as oil sticks, oil pastels, graphite, and paint marker to her canvas. whimsical in spirit, wielding implements drenched with every color from bright saturated feminine pinks to stark black and white, Dawn composes with a degree of independence from visual references in the world.

new for our iron star brand is our Iron Star Candle Company. we are thrilled to be creating in small batches elegantly-scented, clean-burning, soy wax candles. the scent in this old farmhouse is delightful. floral intermingling with seasonal/holiday. warm sugar-related scents and fruit flavored ones. from bourbon to wine. we are constantly trying new ones and are definitely open to any that you may dream up, so let us know! in the meantime, sit back, light a candle, cozy up with a book and enjoy some quiet solitude. or break out some appetizers and drinks, invite a few friends over, and light candles throughout the room in over-sized hurricane glasses. either way, candlelight creates a feeling and an ambiance that means love, home, and happiness. <3

I am thrilled! I just picked up an order of 100 bars of soap, holiday gifts for my acupuncture practice. I approached Dawn with a couple of ideas, and the result is magical, like a soap version of acupuncture! The black and white soap suggests the yin yang symbol of balance. It’s scented with Blood Orange, a woody citrus that may relieve pain, depression and anxiety, plus Clove to improve circulation. It is perfect AND the fragrance is delightful! I attended your demo at The Growing Place and purchased about a dozen bars - have had the best time giving them to everyone I know!! They've been so well-received, I need to order more, and just did. I keep a bar of lavender soap in my car - it smells absolutely heavenly!! Just want you to know that I'm enjoying my Love Letter bar, but was disappointed that you had none today. Would it be possible for me to request a dozen, or could you email me the next time you whip up a batch please?? I have very sensitive skin, and it's very moisturizing and kind to my finicky skin.
